President Ashraf Ghani may have fled the country, but Vice President Amarulla Saleh is still fighting the Taliban. According to information from Kabul News, Saleh’s forces have captured the Charikar area in Parwan Province, north of Kabul, from the Taliban. At the same time, the war with Taliban continues in Panjshir. On Tuesday itself, Saleh described himself as acting president in the absence of Ashraf Ghani.
According to Kabul News, fighting is currently taking place with the Taliban on the outskirts of Panjshir Kanth. A Kabul News source said, “The army of Afghanistan’s first Vice President Amrullah Saleh has gained control of the Charikar area of Parwan province. Now the fighting is going on in Panjshir area.”
