New Delhi, 10/9: Farmers’ organizations opposing the Centre’s agriculture laws have called a meeting of political parties on Friday to pressurize them not to campaign till the Punjab Assembly elections are announced. BJP has not been called for this meeting. Elections to the Punjab assembly are due early next year. Confirming this, Kulwant Singh Sandhu, general secretary of Jamhuri Kisan Sabha, said that farmers’ organizations have called a meeting of all political parties on Friday. He said that the BJP, which supports the three agricultural laws, has not been invited to the meeting. He said representatives of political parties would be asked not to participate in campaigning or hold political rallies till the announcement of elections as it could harm the ongoing farmer struggle.
