New Delhi, 20/9: The SAARC Foreign Ministers’ Meeting will be held during the United Nations General Assembly in New York City, America. It will also include the Foreign Ministers of India and Pakistan. This meeting is being planned for the afternoon of 25 September. In this, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi will be present under one roof.
But sources have made it clear that there will be no talks or courtesy meeting between India and Pakistan during the SAARC meeting. Last year this meeting was held through video conferencing. Sources have informed that without naming Pakistan from this forum, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will express India’s concern on the issue of terrorism in the region.
Also, after the Taliban’s occupation of Afghanistan, the Foreign Minister will also take India’s stand from the SAARC platform. Let us tell you that during the SCO conference, PM Narendra Modi had said that the decision on change of power in Afghanistan and recognition of the new system should be taken by the international community thoughtfully and collectively.
