Dubai, 4/11:Rohit Sharma has congratulated former captain Rahul Dravid on being appointed the new head coach of Team India. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Wednesday confirmed the latter’s appointment and said that his term would begin with the upcoming home series against New Zealand. Rahul Dravid (who was serving as the head of the National Cricket Academy) has been appointed for a period of two years until the 2023 50-over World Cup in India. He will replace Ravi Shastri, whose tenure will end after the conclusion of the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2021 in the United Arab Emirates.
India defeated Afghanistan (IND vs AFG) by 66 runs in their third match of the ICC T20 World Cup. India had suffered a crushing defeat against Pakistan and New Zealand, but the team has made a tremendous comeback against Afghanistan. In the press conference after the match against Afghanistan, Team India’s vice-captain Rohit Sharma was asked about Rahul Dravid becoming the coach. To this Rohit Sharma said, “Congratulations for him to be back in the Indian team, but in a different character. We look forward to working with him. He is a legend of Indian cricket and it would be great to work with him in future.”
