New Delhi, 12/1: Hearing was held in the Supreme Court in the matter of lapse in the security of Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Punjab. The top court has constituted a committee to investigate. The committee will be headed by retired judge Indu Malhotra. A bench of Chief Justice of India NV Raman, Justices Surya Kant and Hima Kohli issued this order on Wednesday. PM Modi’s visit to Ferozepur was scheduled on January 5, but due to security reasons, he had to return.
The committee will also include Director General of Police, Chandigarh, IG of NIA, ADG (Security) Punjab, Registrar General of Punjab-Haryana High Court. The committee will find out the reasons for the lapse in the security of the PM and will also give suggestions to ensure the security. Earlier, during the hearing held on January 10, the top court had made it clear that a judicial committee would be formed to investigate.
