TMC helped BJP to defeat Congress in Goa

Goa, 12/3:Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury on Saturday hit out at his rival Trinamool Congress, saying West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had contested the Goa Assembly elections to please the BJP. The Congress and the Trinamool Congress have been at loggerheads for some time now, the tension between the two escalated when the TMC announced it would contest the Goa elections.

 

Chowdhury, who sat on a dharna to protest the killing of Bengal student leader Anish Khan, launched a scathing attack on the Trinamool supremo and said, “As of today, the Congress has 700 MLAs across India. Congress got 20 per cent vote share of the opposition. Mamata Banerjee is trying to please the BJP so that she can become its agent. So today she is saying a lot.”

Reaching out to regional parties for an anti-BJP alliance after the Bharatiya Janata Party’s victory in four states in the assembly polls, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday said there was no point in keeping the Congress as it is now in it. It didn’t matter. Countering Banerjee’s statement, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury had said that the Trinamool Congress went to defeat the Goa Congress.
