Chandigarh, 14/4: Bhagwant Mann, who is going to become the Chief Minister of Punjab, has said that the security of the general public is more important to him than the security of a leader. He has said that he cannot leave the police station empty. Let us tell you that even before taking over the throne of Punjab, Mann has created a stir in the state. Mann has decided to withdraw the security of all former ministers and MLAs. It is being said that under this the security of about 122 leaders has been withdrawn. On Saturday, Bhagwant Mann met Punjab DGP VK Bhavra.
Now Mann has clarified about his decision. He said, ‘I think the safety of the people of Punjab is more important than the safety of some people. Earlier, police personnel were deployed outside the homes of politicians while police stations remained vacant. For us, the safety of over 3 crore people is of paramount importance. The police will do their job.
Let us tell you that in the list whose security has been withdrawn, the names of most senior leaders of Punjab Congress, who got security under the previous government, are included. The list also includes the names of those Congress MLAs who were successful in winning from their seats this time too, but will no longer be cabinet ministers. Senior leaders, including former cabinet ministers and former assembly speaker, are also part of the list whose security is set to be withdrawn.
