Odisha CM approves OUTR master plan ; Rs 1500 crore to be spent in 3 years

Bhubaneswar, 10/5: Odisha University of Technology and Research (OUTR), a leading institution in the field of technical education in Odisha, will undergo a reshuffle. It was formerly known as the College of Engineering and Technology, or CET. The institution will be transformed through the development of human resources, starting from the infrastructure. It will cost Rs 1,500 crore in three phases in three years. In the first year alone, Rs 1,000 crore will be invested. It can be developed as well-known technical institutions such as IIM, IIT and NIT. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today approved the master plan for the development of OUTR.

 

 

With 400 students currently studying at OUTR, it will be developed within the IIT framework so that 10,000 students will be able to study in the next five years. Today, Chief Minister Shri Patnaik reviewed the infrastructure, management and teaching of OUTR. The Chief Minister also suggested that the university be made a leading institution in the field of technical education and research. The Chief Minister also emphasized on the quality of education and research.

 

With the emphasis on high quality teaching, new courses will be opened for new age technology and more Centers of Excellence will be set up to promote human resource development and inter-departmental research programs. In addition, teaching and research will be carried out in partnership with universities in the country and abroad. Incubation Centers will also be developed in collaboration with various leading industrialists to encourage Startup culture among entrepreneurs and develop entrepreneurial spirit among them. Special attention will be paid to how new patents and intellectual property rights can be obtained with research within universities.
