Bhubaneswar: Senior BJD leader, former Assembly Speaker, and ex-Minister Surjya Narayan Patro is unwell and undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the city.
Patro, who resigned as the Speaker of Odisha Legislative Assembly on Saturday, is suffering from kidney ailments and a serious bacterial infection in his left eye. He has been admitted to the hospital for the last 14 days, said Patro’s son, Biplab.
“In view of the above, he has resigned as Speaker of the Assembly and declined to take any further assignments of the Government,” Biplab stated.
