Utkal Alumina Launches Swachhata Abhiyaan for a Cleaner Community

Tikiri/Rayagada – Utkal Alumina, a subsidiary of Hindalco Industries Limited under
the Aditya Birla Group, has launched its Swachhata Abhiyaan drive in Kucheipadar
Gram Panchayat, Rayagada district. This initiative is part of the company's
commitment to enhancing community welfare through effective Corporate Social
Responsibility (CSR) programs. The drive, which will continue until October 2, 2024,
aims to cover five villages in the area.
The launch event was graced by Ms. Sarita Seth, Sub Inspector, Doraguda Police
Station along with Utkal Alumina officials, including Col. Paramjit Bajwa, General
Manager of Security; AGM Kiran Nayak from HR; Chandan Kishore, AGM of
Technical Services; and the entire CSR team led by Ms. Lopamudra Mishra, Head of
CSR.
As part of the initiative, a series of engaging activities will be held to foster
awareness about cleanliness and its significance within the community. Students
from 17 schools will participate in debate competitions, encouraging both senior and
junior categories to articulate the importance of sanitation.
In addition to these educational activities, a village cleaning drive is planned across
five villages. The first successful clean-up took place in Bilamal village, covering 55
households, setting a positive precedent for the remaining villages.
The initiative also emphasizes the vital role of Swachhata Doots, community
volunteers who are pioneers in addressing the hazardous effects of uncleanliness in
their surroundings. These dedicated individuals will help educate residents about
hygiene practices and the importance of maintaining a clean environment.
Door-to-door campaigns will target two gram panchayats, allowing for direct
communication with residents about the essential role of hygiene. Informative mic
announcements will be broadcast across seven gram panchayats, further spreading
awareness and encouraging community participation.
A mobile awareness campaign, known as the Swachhtaa Rath, will traverse all
peripheral villages, promoting the message of cleanliness and hygiene. To reinforce
these efforts, banners and posters will be strategically displayed throughout the
villages, serving as constant reminders of the Swachhata Abhiyaan and its goals.
The overarching aim of this event is to instil the true essence of cleanliness in every
aspect of life, fostering a culture of hygiene and well-being within the community.
Utkal Alumina is committed to working alongside local communities to promote a
cleaner, healthier environment, ensuring that the spirit of Swachhata is upheld
beyond the confines of the drive.
