Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Sunday arrested Ashok Padhy, junior engineer (JE), Phiringia block in Kandhamal district, while demanding and accepting taking a bribe of Rs 10,000 at his government quarters from a contractor for clearing his final bill. The entire bribe money has been recovered from his possession and seized, Odisha Vigilance said in a press release today.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are underway at two locations linked to Padhy from the disproportionate assets (DA) angle.
A case has been registered at the Berhampur Vigilance police station under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018. Further investigation is in progress against Padhy and a detailed report is awaited.
