Prevention of Malnutrition Awareness drive kick-started by OPGC

IB Thermal; 12.11.2024: Under its CSR programme, OPGC has kick-started Malnutrition Prevention Awareness Campaign in the periphery of its IB Thermal Power Station located at Banharpali in Jharsuguda district. The inaugural event was held today at Nuapada village of Tilia GP. OPGC has partnered with AIDENT, a non-government organisation which has years of experience in executing malnutrition prevention awareness programmes. This awareness drive shall cover six peripheral gram panchayats i.e. – Telenpali, Kumbharbandh, Kushraloi, Tilia, Remenda and Dalgaon. Through this initiative, OPGC aims to empower villagers to combat malnutrition through various modes of Information, Education and Communication (IEC)  including street plays, wall paintings, village sensitization meetings, nutrition clubs, and establishment of nutrition gardens etc. In each panchayat, OPGC’s CSR team alongside AIDENT, shall work to raise awareness about malnutrition and build capacity for creating a healthier community by targeting Asha & Anganwadi workers, pregnant and lactating mothers.

In today’s inaugural event, more than 200 people, mostly women gathered to witness the proceedings and learn about ill effects of malnutrition and ways to prevent it which shall form the basis of of healthy society. Sarpanch of Tilia GP Pushpanjali Pradhan who joined the event as the chief guest praised OPGC for its active CSR intervention in creating a healthy society through health camps, eye treatment camps and malnutrition prevention awareness programmes. Among others Naib Sarpanch Durga Prasad Sahu, OPGC’s Himansu Bhusan Behera, Sr. Manager (PR & CSR), Tapas Panda, Asst. Manager (CSR) and members of OPGC CSR team Rajendra Sa, Ramiyan Chhatria, Biren Bisi & Amar Singh were present.
