Karnataka High Court stays state government order authorising Waqf board to issue marriage certificate

Bangalore, 22/11: The Karnataka High Court, on Friday, stayed the Siddaramaiah government order that allowed Karnataka State Board of Waqf to issue marriage certificates, Bar and Bench reported.

“The Waqf Act does not authorise the Board or its officers to issue marriage certificates,” the high court observed. The state’s government order (GO) was issued on August 30, 2023.
