The East India Company led by Englishmen invaded and colonized numerous countries including India. The British Raj in India is a dark and complex chapter. During the British Raj, which lasted from 1858 to 1947, the Englishmen attempted to erase Indian culture by destroying Indian heritage, draining the wealth, disrupting Indian industries and imposing heavy taxes leading to famines, poverty, violence and repression. The British Raj is remembered as a painful chapter that included massacres and brutal suppression. However, now after 77 years, a large number of Indians in London, the heart of England, are way richer than the native Englishmen.According to Barratt London, a London-based residential developer, Indians are the largest group of property owners in The City. Its recent calculations show that the number of Indians who own real estate in the heart of the United Kingdom exceeds more than the number of native owners. This group of Indians include people who have been living in the UK for generations as well as Non-Resident Indians (NRIs). Notably, London has been a preferred destination for real estate investments and wealthy Indians have been investing in the sector for decades. As per reports, the preferred locations for real estate investments include Mayfair and Marylebone in Central London, and Oxford Circus in the western end of the city.Factors that attract Indians to invest in London’s real estate market include capital appreciation, stable rental yields, and prices comparable to Delhi and Mumbai. The largest Indian communities in the UK live in West London.Well, this is quite relatable to the Hindi song, ‘London Mein India ka Bolbala Ho Gaya…’ from Yeh Hai Jalwa, sung by Pankaj Udhas and Sukhwinder Singh as Indians own more property than the native Englishmen. The Hindi song featured Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt.
