GKEL wins Sword of Honour from British Safety Council

Bhubaneswar, Dec05, 2024:GMR Kamalanga Energy Limited GKEL), a subsidiary of GMR Power and Urban Infra Ltd (GPUIL), has been honoured with the Sword of Honour-2024from British Safety Council for exceptional prowess in the management of health and safety risks in the workplace.

This achievement is testament to their unwavering dedication to delivering and maintaining outstanding health and safety standards at work places. This win marked a historic milestone, as GKEL became the first industry in Odisha to secure this coveted accolade.

GKEL awarded the British Safety Council Sword of Honour for 2024 for demonstrating an outstanding commitment to health and safety management during the last twelve months. Manoj Mishra, Plant Head and Basudev Swain, Associate General Manager (AGM), GKEL received the prestigious Honour at Royal Forum of Draper’s Hall in London, on November 29.

The ‘Sword of Honour’ is a prestigious international award that recognises an organisation’s exceptional dedication to health and safety management. This award is bestowed upon companies that attain a rating of ‘Five Stars’ during the British Safety Council’s rigorous health and safety audit.

This prestigious honour serves as a strong endorsement of GKEL’s unwavering commitment and dedication to the highest standards of health and safety management at work places.

GMR Kamalanga Energy Limited is a 1050 MW (3X350 MW) coal-based power plant located in Kamalanga Village, Dhenkanal district, Odisha is strategically located close to the coal belt. It has long term Power Purchase Agreements with GRIDCO (Odisha), Uttar and Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigams, (UHBVNL & DHBVNL), Bihar State Electricity Board and a medium term PPA with TNEB.
