Cold Wave Likely To Return To Odisha From Dec 30
Bhubaneswar: After a brief hiatus, Odisha will once again experience a cold wave from December 30. According to the regional office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar, the night temperature is likely to drop by 2°C-4°C from December 30 under the influence of cold and dry wind blowing into Odisha owing to westward movement of a western disturbance currently sweeping North India.The cold spell is likely to intensify from the first week of January, the weather office said on Sunday.According to the IMD midday bulletin, although there will be no large charge in the minimum temperature during the next 24 hours, the mercury will, thereafter, fall by 2°C – 4°C in the subsequent four days across the state.The night temperature may drop to 13°C and 14°C in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack during this week.Meanwhile, the twin cities recorded 16.9°C and 16.5°C respectively in the last 24 hours with G Udayagiri being the coldest in Odisha at 10.8°C.IMD has issued a dense fog warning at one or two places in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Kalahandi, and Kandhamal till December 30. Shallow to moderate fog is also likely at some places in Bargarh, Bolangir, Nuapada, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Sambalpur. Light rain may also occur at one or two in Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sambalpur and Deogarh districts during this period.
