PPA observes 64th Port Foundation Day 388 competitors joined Paradip Marathon

Paradeep:The 20th Paradip Marathon 2025 was conducted by the Gopabandhu Kreeda Sansad of Paradip Port Authority (PPA) on Friday on the occasion of 64th Port Foundation Day with Chief Guest PPA Chairman Shri P.L. Haranadh flagging it off at Hanuman Temple Square. Shri Nilabhra Dasgupta, Dy. Chairman, PPA, was Guest of Honour.

The marathon covered a route of 14 km and concluded at the Gopabandhu Stadium amid great encouragement by the inhabitants of the port town and members of other Organisations. A total of 388 competitors – 325 male and 63 female, participated in the run.

Shri Ashok Dandsena from Odisha Police won the first prize in the men’s category by completing the distance in 41′ (Minute) 51.1″( second), Shri Arjun Tudu from Jharkhand got the second prize with 41′ 54.7” and Shri Dayanidhi Munda from Sonepur got the third prize in this category by clocking 44’04”.

In the women category, Ms. Susmita Tigga from Odisha Police won the first prize by completing the distance in 53’ 26.5”, Ms. Sandhya Murmu from Mayurbhanj got the second prize by completing the distance in 54’ 58.6” and Ms. Dipti Rani Sahoo won the third prize in 55’ 50.1”

Ms. Srabani Nanda Indian woman sprint runner athlete from Odisha specialized in 4x100m relay, 100 metre and 200 metre sprint events, was felicitated by Shri P.L. Haranadh, Chairman, PPA on the occasion. Her Asst. coach Ms. Namita Kabat was felicitated by Shri Nilabhra Dasgupta, Dy. Chairman, PPA. 5 differently abed students from local JAGRUTY school were felicitated on the occasion.

PPA Chairman Shri Haranadh, Shri Nilabhra Dasgupta, Dy. Chairman, PPA, Shri Sanajay Negi, DIG, DHQ7, Indian Coast Guard Shri A.K. Bose, Advisor, Business Development, Smt. Preeti Sondhi, Working President, Paradip Ladies Club and PPA Heads of the Departments graced the valedictory function held at the Gopabandhu Stadium. Addressing the gathering, Shri Haranadh said that PPA is currently the Largest Major Port in terms of rated port capacity.  The Port is having the best berth productivity among Indian Major ports.  It happens to be the cheapest Major Port in the country.  Now with a slew of modernisaiton projects, the port is vying for  coveted 400 MMT capacity by 2030. Towards greenery development in the locality and employee welfare, the Port is giving utmost importance. In the spirit of Marathon, PPA is marching forward. He appreciated the participants who have come from different parts of the country like Uttar Pradesh, Chhatishgarh and Jharkhand to join the Paradip Marathon.

Officials and technical members of the Paradip Port Sports Council led by Shri D.N. Sondhi, President, Dr. D.P. Sethi, Working President, Gopabandhu Kreeda Sansad & Shri Ranjan Rashmi Beura, Secretary and Shri Rabi Das, Advisor, Sports, GKS with the assistance of the officials from the Odisha Olympic Association conducted the marathon smoothly.
