Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister says land will not be used for activities against India

New Delhi: Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri met Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister Maulvi Amir Khan Muttaki while on his visit to Dubai. The meeting is India’s first high-level bilateral dialogue with the Afghan government.It is worth mentioning here that since the Taliban returned to power in August 2021 this was India’s first meeting with them. “We will not allow our land to be used against India”, assured Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister.He further said that the Afghan government shall not allow anti-Indian terrorist groups to grow from the soil of Afghanistan, the biggest concern of India. He further insisted that the Taliban shall see to it that Afghan soil will not be allowed to be used against India.The UAE Top Diplomat welcomed the Afghan Minister, affirming the UAE’s commitment to supporting the friendly Afghan people in achieving their aspirations for stability, development, and prosperity, as well as supporting the paths of development and progress in Afghanistan.During the meeting, the two sides discussed bilateral relations and ways to enhance them to achieve the mutual interests of both countries, promoting prosperity and welfare for their peoples. They also exchanged views on regional and international issues of common concern.Additionally, they reviewed ways to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in several sectors, particularly in economic and developmental fields, while supporting reconstruction and development efforts in Afghanistan, to serve its developmental plans and objectives, within the framework of the strong and historical relations that unite the two friendly countries and peoples.
