Sundargarh: After 40 hours of intensive rescue operation, three bodies of labourers were recovered from the Dalmia Cement factory. On January 16, a massive mishap reportedly took place at Dalmia Cement factory in Rajgangpur of Odisha’s Sundargarh district allegedly after the coal hopper collapsed during stocking. The Odisha government has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 25 lakh for the kin of the deceased. The massive mishap occurred allegedly when the coal hopper collapsed during stocking by a group of 12-member labourers this evening, said sources adding that many of them, at least 3-4, got trapped under the collapsed coal hopper. On the other hand, locals staged a protest demanding compensation of Rs 50 lakh for the family of the deceased. On being informed by the factory authorities, the local police along with the firefighters rushed to the spot. An ambulance was also stationed at the spot of mishap. Sources further said that a huge crane machine also has been roped-in to be engaged in the rescue operation. Meanwhile, several workers along with the local people have gathered at the entrance gate of the Dalmia Cement plant.
