Jindal Steel & Power Celebrates Naveen Jindal’s Birthday as Fitness Day, Launches Community Facilities

Angul, : Jindal Steel & Power (JSP) employees, along with members of the local community, came together to celebrate the birthday of Mr. Naveen Jindal, Chairman of JSP, with a series of meaningful social and fitness activities.

The celebrations commenced with a special puja at the Devbhoomi Jindal Temple. Early in the morning, JSP’s Angul location head and Executive Director-in-Charge, Mr. Pankaj Malhan, flagged off a mini-marathon within Jindal Nagar Township. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from employees, their families, and community members across all age groups, with winners receiving recognition and rewards.

As part of its commitment to community well-being, the Jindal Foundation inaugurated a thousand-capacity pavilion at the newly developed playground in Golabandh village, adjacent to the Angul plant. Mr. Prashant Hota, President and Group Head of Jindal CSR, dedicated the facility to the villagers and highlighted Shri Naveen Jindal’s focus on organic diet, sports, athletics, and fitness for all ages. Youths from Benagadia and Golabandh villages played a friendly cricket match to commemorate the occasion.

Several key development initiatives were unveiled, most prominently the Naveen Jindal Skill Centre to enhance the skill ecosystem, Safety Park, Volleyball Stadium, and a new canteen. The facilities were inaugurated by Mr. Pankaj Malhan in the presence of senior executives, including Mr. Damodar Mittal, Executive Director-Projects; Mr. Dinesh Tripathy; Mr. Dilip Sinha; Yoga Guru Swami Satyabindu Saraswati, Mr. Vijjai Singh, Brig. Dinesh Sharma, and other dignitaries.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Pankaj Malhan expressed his admiration for Mr. Naveen Jindal, calling him a visionary leader, a patriot, an iconic sportsman, a devoted family man, and an ardent advocate of a healthy lifestyle and fitness.

Mr. Malhan stated, “Mr. Jindal considers everyone associated with JSP as part of his extended family. His unwavering commitment to national growth and social welfare is truly inspiring. On this special day, let us pledge to uphold his values and contribute our best to society and the nation.”

Swami Satyabindu Saraswati also shared his experiences with Mr. Jindal, highlighting his discipline and dedication in both professional and personal life.

Other dignitaries, including Mrs. Seema Malhan, Mrs. Anita Mittal, and Mr. Damodar Mittal, extended their heartfelt birthday wishes to Mr. Jindal, praying for his continued success and well-being.

The Jindal Foundation also marked the occasion with various community celebrations at different locations.

 The Volleyball Home at Angul, while hosting the final match of the tournament, also celebrated the birthday of Shri Naveen Jindal, admiring him as a multi-talented, patriotic industrialist and an ardent lover of sports.

Mr. Naveen Jindal is currently serving his third term as a Member of Parliament, elected from the Kurukshetra Lok Sabha constituency, and is the Chairman of the Indian Steel Association. He has been conferred with the Lifetime Achievement Award from the University of Texas, USA. Mr. Naveen Jindal is also the Founding Chancellor of OP Jindal Global University, ranked as the No. 1 private university in India under the QS rankings.

This year, JSP is celebrating “Celebrating the Legacy,” a tribute that began on March 9, Mr. Naveen Jindal’s birthday, and will conclude on March 20, honoring the birthday of Smt. Savitri Jindal, Chairperson Emeritus of Jindal Group. A series of programs are lined up for the welfare of the local community, employees, and families, reinforcing JSP’s commitment to social responsibility and inclusive growth.
