Talcher:(Correspondent):- Talcher Thermal celebrated International Women’s Day with a heartfelt event dedicated to recognizing and appreciating the invaluable contributions of contractual female workers. The celebration was a testament to the strength, resilience, and determination of women across all roles.
Speaking at the event, Smt. Vibha Agarwal, President of Sagarika Ladies Club, said,
“Every woman here is an inspiration. Whether at home, at work, or in society, their hard work drives progress. Today, we honor them—not just as employees but as changemakers shaping our communities.”
The event was also graced by Ms. Payal Patel, known as the ‘PAD Girl of Odisha’, who spoke on the importance of women’s health and hygiene. Ms. Bibharani Patra, a mountaineer from Odisha, and Smt. Mamta Patra, a social worker at the Social Development Foundation at Talcher Thermal, shared their inspiring journeys, proving that women, no matter where they come from, can achieve greatness.
As part of the celebrations, a special health camp was organized for contractual female workers, where health check-ups and awareness sessions were conducted. In addition, health kits were distributed to ensure that women had access to essential healthcare resources.
The event also welcomed women beneficiaries from Talcher Thermal’s CSR training programs, who shared how these initiatives have transformed their lives and empowered them to become financially independent.
One of the contractual workers shared,
“Today, I feel truly empowered. We work hard every day, and this event makes us feel valued and appreciated. It’s an inspiration for us and future generations.”
A CSR training beneficiary who received beautician training through Talcher Thermal’s CSR program expressed gratitude for the opportunity, saying:
“Before this training, I never imagined I could run my own business. But today, I have my own beauty salon and can support my family independently. Talcher Thermal’s initiative has given me confidence and a new identity.”
Recognizing the contributions of women employees, a special session was held in the presence of Sh. Vijay Chand, Executive Director & HOP, along with Dr. J.P. Roy, GM (Project), and other senior officials.During his address, Sh. Vijay Chand said,
“The strength of Talcher Thermal lies in its people. From contractual workers who are the backbone of our operations to employees driving progress, every woman here plays an integral role. We are committed to supporting their well-being, growth, and empowerment.”
