Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Assembly Budget Session witnessed a ruckus today as Biju Janata Dal (BJD) members protested against the Polavaram project. The protest led to the adjournment of the House till 11.30 am by Speaker Surama Padhy. As per reports, Minister Mukesh Mahaling was supposed to respond to questions regarding irrigation in the Odisha Legislative Assembly. However, the BJD members began protesting as soon as the question hour started. The BJD had proposed a discussion on the Polavaram project, but it was rejected by the Speaker. This led to a heated argument between the BJD members and the BJP members. Finally, the Speaker was forced to adjourn the assembly until 11:30 am. On the other hand, Congress staged a protest near Mahatma Gandhi’s statue, demanding the revocation of the suspension order from Jeypore MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati. The Congress members have boycotted the question hour session, wearing black badges as a sign of protest.
