The Bansidhar and Ila Panda Foundation (BIPF) has awarded the 12th Shambhavi Puraskar to the Centre for Integrated Rural and Tribal Development (CIRTD) for its outstanding work in rural development. CIRTD has been helping farmers, women, children, and youth in Sundargarh District, Odisha, by improving their lives through various programs. Dr. Sibaji Panda from Sonepur, Odisha, received the Jury Commendation Certification for his efforts in supporting children with hearing impairments and helping them reach their full potential. Shri Jayant Singh Chowdhury, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Skill Development&Enterprise and Education, Government of India, was the Chief Guest and Padma Shri Professor Dr. Ashok Kumar Mohapatra was the Guest of Honor in this event. A key highlight of the ceremony was an engaging fireside chat between the esteemed Chief Guest, Guest of Honourand young representatives from the skill sector and schools. Moderated by Ms. Shaifalika Panda, the session delved into the aspirations, challengesand future opportunities of today’s youth. The discussion emphasised the importance of skill development, career preparednessand a holistic approach to improving employment prospects. This insightful exchange underscored the role of young changemakers in shaping an inclusive and progressive society. Since its inception in 2014, the Shambhavi Puraskar has recognized and empowered over 20 grassroots changemakers, amplifying their impact and inspiring community-driven transformation. The award includes a cash prize of Rs. 5,00,000, along with a citation and trophy. The Jury Commendation Certification comprises a cash prize of Rs. 1,00,000 and a citation. Speaking at the event, Chief Guest Shri Jayant Singh Chaudhary shared his views”Odisha is a resource rich state and skill development is very important for people here. Institutionally, Odisha is ahead of the game. But like any resource rich region there is economic disparity in the people. To bridge this more entrepreneurs who can give jobs, are needed.”

Their work serves as an inspiration for creating a more inclusive and equitable future.” The Shambhavi Puraskar 2025 was awarded to the Centre for Integrated Rural and Tribal Development (CIRTD), Sundargarh, Odisha, for its dedicated efforts in transforming rural communities through sustainable development initiatives. The Jury Commendation Certification 2025 was also presented to Dr. Sibaji Panda from Sonepur, Odisha for his unwavering courage and unrelenting passion for dedicating his life to amplifying the voices of children with hearing impairment, ensuring they are empowered to reach their full potential. Winners are selected based on their impact, sustainability, community involvement, potential for scaling, innovation, and the number of people they benefit. An independent jury panel comprising experts from government, academia, industry, media, and BIPF evaluates and selects the awardees each year.
