Kalabaisakhi creates havoc in Mayurbhanj with hail storms, uproots electric poles and trees

Mayurbhanj: The impact of Kalabaisakhi turned fierce than expected with wind and hail storms on Thursday in Mayurbhanj district. Heavy losses were incurred in Bisoyi and Bangiriposi areas in the district. According to information, asbestos roofs flied off following the intensity of wind speed.  On the other hand, the glass panes of several passengers buses were broken by the hail storms. Big trees bent down to the roads and some electric poles were uprooted thus disrupting power supply. Kalabaisakhi in Mayurbhanj created havoc for almost three hours. In many areas, power outage was experienced as electric poles were uprooted. The Kalabaisakhi is likely to prevail for the next two days in the state. All districts have been issued alert warnings as per the prevalence of Kalabaisakhi in the area. Rainfall in many places as an impact of Kalabaisakhi is likely to continue for next two days. The temperature is likely to drop and the heatwave is likely to lower. ORANGE WARNING: Thunderstorm with lightning and hail with gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Kendrapada.
