Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Assembly witnessed a ruckus today as Congress members staged a protest, wearing black dresses and turbans. The opposition party was demonstrating against the alleged rise in crimes against women in the state. The protest led to the adjournment of the Assembly’s question hour session until 11:30 am. The Speaker of the House Surama Padhy took this decision amidst the chaos. As per reports, Congress members created a pandemonium in the House, banging bells and shouting slogans. They alleged that the state government was not taking adequate measures to prevent crimes against women. On the other hand, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) members also staged a walkout, alleging that they were being neglected in the House. The BJD members entered the well of the House, shouting slogans and waving their arms, to express their discontent. They claimed that despite being Opposition party in the Assembly, they were not being given adequate opportunity to raise their concerns and participate in the discussions.
