Odisha Cabinet Approves ‘Odisha State Road Policy 2025’ To Enhance Road Network

Bhubaneswar: In a significant move to improve the road infrastructure in Odisha, the State Cabinet has approved the proposal for ‘Odisha State Road Policy 2025’ with an aim to provide a framework for a quality road network, ensuring safe, sustainable, and efficient movement of people and goods across the state. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today informed the Assembly regarding the Cabinet approval.

Key Features of the Odisha State Road Policy 2025:

a) Determination of guidelines for inter-departmental handover of roads.

(b) Provision of adequate and sustainable funding for road infrastructure management and maintenance of road infrastructure.

(c) Improvement of safety of road network to reduce accidents and fatalities.

(d) Strengthening the capacity of road sector organizations in planning, design, procurement, construction, maintenance and project management.

(e) The proposed Odisha State Road Policy-2025 also focuses on bridge development in the state.

A ‘Comprehensive Online Bridge Information System-BIS’ will be developed to collect detailed information on all bridges in the state, with annual assessments conducted through modern processes.
