Berhampur: Odisha Vigilance sleuths detained a Panchayat Extension Officer (PEO) in Radha Deipur Gram Panchayat (GP) under Sanakhemundi block in Ganjam district. He had allegedly carried out the embezzlement of Rs 38 lakh. The Berhampur Vigilance team detained Khetramohan Nayak, PEO of Radha Deipur GP for embezzlement of Rs 38 lakh. Locals were complaining about the misappropriation of the government money. After the allegations by the locals for the misappropriation of the money allotted by the government, the vigilance team detained the PEO. According to information, the PEO had allegedly withdrawn Rs 38 lakh cash without the knowledge of the Sarpanch. Following the allegation, the Berhampur Odisha Vigilance detained the PEO and is enquiring the matter. Several other employees in the Gram Panchayat were also enquired. The Vigilance squad has laid its hands on some important documents from the PEO’s office. For further investigation, the sleuths have summoned the Sarpanch and other officials will be enquired on Friday. The block has directed for the transfer of PEO Khetra Mohan and in his place another Panchayat Extension Officer is to be given charge of Radha Deipur Gram Panchayat.
