Kalabaisakhi rains create water logging in Berhampur

Berhampur: The Kalabaisakhi rains have wreaked havoc in Berhampur of Ganjam district. The roofs blew off and several houses have been damaged as the rains tormented the people here. After three hours of continuous rains, the roads are clogged with water. The streets, slums and government offices are all logged with water including the MKCG medical. In several OPDs in MKCG Hospital, water logging situation was seen. Similarly, big trees have fallen to the ground due to the heavy winds and rains. As water logging was seen in various places, houses in low-lying areas were flooded. The fire department also rescued a person who was taken away by the flooding rains in a drain. A student was killed in lightning strike in Ganjam district of Odisha on Saturday. The incident took place when the student was on his way to Narayanpur from Bomkei. The deceased has been identified as 10th class student Rajesh Kumar Gouda from Narayanpur village under Bomkei panchayat in Digapahandi Block of the district. He had appeared for the Matriculation examination a few days before.
