Puri: The Srimandir rituals are regarded very sacred and the particular rituals are to be exclusively performed by particular servitors. During the ‘Mailam’ ritual today, Palua servitors mistakenly touched the Lord. As a result a Chuan Mahasnan was held on Tuesday. According to information, early in the morning when the rituals were being performed, Palua servitors touched the sacred ritual. The ritual was to be performed by other group of servitors. This disrupted the temple rituals. Consequently, ‘Chuan Mahasnan’ was held to cleanse the Srimandir. Therefore, the temple darshan was suspended for 1 hour for devotees from 6.50 am to 7.50 am. Thereafter darshan for the devotees will be opened. Similarly on March 22, a Mahasnan was conducted after Pania Apada servitor fell down and hurt himself. As blood stains were found inside the Bhitara Katha of the temple, the Mahasnan (great bath) for the cleansing of the temple was conducted. Meanwhile, the temple darshan remain shut for the general public. According to rituals, if blood stains are found in the area from Jaya Vijaya gate to the Bhitara Katha or if any elderly man or child pees or defecates then the Niti (rituals) will be immediately stopped. Only after Maha Snan, the rituals will be re-started.
