Rourkela: In a heart wrenching incident, a minor boy was charred to death reportedly after coming in contact with a fire that occurred at the heap of wood and bamboo in Rourkela on Tuesday. The deceased boy, who has been identified as 10-year-old Lucky Moharana, was reportedly playing inside the Durga Puja Pandal at the Telephone Bhawan in Rourkela Sector 6 along with five other minor boys. Puja decoration materials including a heap of wood and bamboos were stored at the locked Durga Puja Pandal. However, a fire occurred when the boys were playing and it engulfed the Durga Puja Pandal entirely. While five boys managed to come out of the Durga Puja Pandal, Lucky Moharana got stuck following which he was charred to death on the spot However, the exact reason of the inferno is yet to be ascertained. Meanwhile, the unfortunate incident has shocked and surprised every resident of the locality. A team of fire fighters reached the spot after getting information about the mishap and initiated efforts to douse the fire. Speaking about the incident Rourkela ASP Prava Sankar Nayak said, “Some boys were playing inside the locked Durga Puja Pandal when the fire took place. One of them was charred to death. We are told that it is an accidental fire. However, we will launch a probe to know under what circumstances the fire occurred. We will interrogate the boys who were playing with the deceased boy to find out the exact cause of the fire.”
