Odia girl dupes Andhra boy on pretext of marriage, elopes with gold and cash worth Rs 4 lakh

Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident, an Odia girl duped an Andhra boy and eloped with gold and cash. A complaint has been lodged in the Nayapalli police station limits in Bhubaneswar in this regard. The girl reportedly absconded with the gold jewellery worth Rs 3 lakh, hard cash of Rs 1 lakh and silver jewellery worth Rs 20,000. According to information, a marriage broker had set up the girl based in Bhubaneswar with the Andhra boy. After the two families met each other, they had an engagement at a hotel in Bhubaneswar. As per Telugu traditions, the boy’s family gave jewellery, clothes to the girl in the engagement ceremony. The date for their marriage was fixed on March 23. They were to have a court marriage on the day. However, the girl or her family members did not show up. After the boy’s family contacted the girl’s family through the broker, it was learnt that they do not want the marriage anymore. They also denied to return the jewellery and cash given by the boy’s family. The family soon realised that they have duped and lodged a complaint in the Nayapalli police station. According to sources, it was found that, the girl was previously married and had not divorced her husband.
