Dhamra Port observes Odisha Day
Pledge to make Odisha an industrially prosperous State: CEO Devendra Thakar
Dhamra, : On the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the formation of the Odisha
linguistic province, Odisha Day was celebrated with great pomp at Dhamra Port. A grand program
was organized at the port premises, attended by the Chief Executive Officer of the port, Devendra
Thakar, Chief Operating Officer Sanjib Gupta, Department Heads and port employees. The program
was presided over by the Head of Corporate Affairs, Ashish Dash.
In the beginning, lighting the lamp and ‘Vande Ukral Janani’ song was sung along with offering
tribute to the legendary leaders who had played a pivotal role in the creation of Odisha state. Shri
Thakar in his address he highlighted about the rich traditions, cultural values, history of commerce
and the glory of Odisha have given a special identity to Odisha in the world. Odisha was first
recognized as a state on April 1, 1936, under the leadership of legendary Madhusudan Das,
Gopabandhu Das, Fakir Mohan Senapati, Maharaja Krishnachandra Gajapati, Sriramchandra Bhanj,
Gangadhar Meher, Radhanath Ray. Initially, Odisha was formed with 6 districts Cuttack, Puri,
Balasore, Sambalpur, Koraput and Ganjam. CEO of Dhamra Port Devendra Thakar remembered the
contribution of these legendaries in the formation of the separate province. Apart from this, he praised
the language, folk art, tourism destinations, and cuisine of Odisha. He recalled the significant
contribution of Utkal in the field of trade & commerce, maritime in the past and wished everyone’s
cooperation in making Odisha an industrially prosperous state in the future. On this occasion, Dhamra
Port congratulated all the port employees, District Administration, Government agencies, stakeholders
for achieving a new milestone in the import and export sector in the last financial year. Head of
Corporate Affairs Shri Dash presided over the program and highlighted the rich culture, history,
literature, art and architectural heritage of Odisha and gave vote of thanks.
