Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident, a woman kidnapped her boyfriend and demanded a ransom of Rs 10 lakh for releasing him. The incident happened in Jharpada area of Bhubaneswar. The man has been identified as Somnath and the woman has been identified as Prapti Sharma. He would suspect her of a loose character and scold her. According to information, the woman’s partner suspected her of having relationship with other men. Reportedly the woman hired five men and got him kidnapped. She demanded a ransom of Rs 10 lakh from the man’s sister and threatened to kill him. The police arrested the woman along with five others. On March 31, the man’s sister lodged a missing complaint under Kharavela Nagar police station. Following the incident, the Commissionerate police constituted three teams. A special squad of Kharavela Nagar and Jatni police was constituted. The police remained at its toes and tracked the phone numbers and found that Somnath’s location was in Khandagiri. The kidnappers hid Somnath in a hotel near the SUM hospital. The police seized two cars and four mobile phones from the kidnappers. Police Commissioner S. Dev Dutta said ,“Somnath’s love interest Prapti Sharma along with her relatives had hatched a plan to kidnap him and demand a ransom of Rs 10 lakh. They duo were in a live-in relationship and staying at a rented house in Kharavela Nagar.”
