Mayurbhanj: As many as 46 people were hospitalised for vomiting and loose motions after consuming Prasad at a Sankirtan on Friday. The incident happened in Kashipala village under Saraskana block in Mayurbhanj district. The locals attended a Sankirtan in the village and as many as 46 people have been affected by diarrhoea after consuming the Prasad. A medical team visited the village and started treatment. Among the 46 people hospitalised 12 people have been in a critical condition and are undergoing treatment. Some of them are undergoing treatment at Sirsa Community Health Centre (CHC). Some villagers have been discharged after their condition got better. A team of doctors from the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) are scheduled to go a visit to the village to investigate the cause. A villager said, “I and my family of three had gone for the Sankirtan in our village. After the Sankirtan we ate the Prasad distributed in the feast. On returning home my daughter started complaining of an uneasy stomach. My son vomitted.” Another villager was also heard saying that she and her grandmother had gone for the feast. She said that the food might have been contaminated.
