Man hurls bomb at in-laws’ house in Cuttack, property damaged

Tension gripped the peaceful locality of Muslim Sahi under Narsinghpur police limits in cuttack  district after a late-night bomb attack was reported at the residence of one Sultan Mohammad. In a disturbing turn of events, the attack was allegedly carried out by none other than his son-in-law, Abdul Mansur, with the help of a few accomplices. According to police sources and eyewitnesses, the incident occurred on Saturday night when four individuals arrived on two motorcycles and threw crude bombs at Sultan Mohammad’s house. The loud explosion not only created panic in the area but also caused significant damage to the property. The main entrance door, window grills, glass panes, and several household items were completely shattered in the blast. Fortunately, no family member was injured in the attack. Sultan Mohammad filed a formal complaint, naming his son-in-law Abdul Mansur as the prime suspect. “My son-in-law had earlier threatened us to kill. Yesterday, he along with other friends came and hurled bombs at my house in which several articles have been damaged,” alleged Sultan. Abdul, a native of Mukundprasad village in Khordha district, had married Sultan’s daughter four years ago. However, the marriage reportedly turned sour due to repeated disputes between the couple. Following constant quarrels, Sultan’s daughter returned to her parental home some time ago and has been living there since. “My husband used to torture me. He had extramarital affairs and always used to threaten to kill me,” alleged Sultan’s daughter. Local residents say that tensions had been simmering between the two families for a while, but no one anticipated it would escalate to this level. Sultan has alleged that Abdul, furious over his wife’s departure, returned last night with friends and carried out the attack as an act of revenge or intimidation. Police officials from Narsinghpur station reached the spot soon after the complaint was lodged and have begun a detailed investigation. Forensic experts are expected to visit the site to collect evidence, and search operations are reportedly underway to trace the accused individuals. “The incident occurred late last night. We have constituted a team and started an investigation. Soon the culprits will be nabbed,” informed the Inspector of Narsinghpur police station, Bhawani Khuntia.
