Ram Navami in Srimandir: Temple to remain shut for 5 hours, check timings

Puri: On the occasion of Ram Navami the darshan at Jagannath temple in Puri was closed for 5 hours today. The rituals for the birth of Lord Rama will be conducted in the Jagannath temple at Puri, informed the SJTA. The Srimandir will remain closed after the Mandhyanna Dhupa from 5.00 pm to 10.00 pm for the darshan today. After the Mandhyanna Dhupa, the rituals for Ram Janma will be celebrated in the temple for which the darshan will be closed. The Shree Jagannatha Temple Administration (SJTA) informed about the closure of the temple for five hours. Two Mahajana servitors will conduct the birth of Lord Ram as Dasarath and Kaushalya. It is a secret ritual therefore, the Jayabijaya dwara in the Garbha Griha will remain closed. After the birth of Lord Ram, Arati with camphor was done, then Mahasuara Gandusa Masala and Khira Mohani rituals will be conducted. After this Panda servitors will conduct the Sitalabhoga and Mahasuar servitors will conduct the Charubhata Mohani near the Jayavijaya door. On the auspicious occasion of Ram Navami, the work for the chariot making of Rath Yatra will begin. For this ‘Mala Mahardha’ will be taken from SJTA to Khapuria by a five-member team. The traditional ‘Sahijata’ will also begin today.
