Berhampur: In a tragic incident, as many as three members of a family reportedly died due to the poisonous impact of pesticide in Ganjam district of Odisha yesterday. The incident took place in the Pallibandha village of the district. The deceased persons have been identified as S Mami Reddy (40), her 20 year old son S Rajesh Reddy and 18 year old daughter S Mina Reddy. As per reports, the mother, daughter and son fell asleep last night after taking medicine that is used to prevent insects from entering rice. When the door of the house did not open till late night, the local residents expressed suspicion and knocked on the door of the house. Later, they were rescued from the house in a critical condtion. They were rushed to the Chhatrapur hospital and then to MKCG Medical College in Berhampur late last night after they were found to have consumed the said pesticide. However, they all succumbed to the poisonous impact of the pesticide while undergoing treatment. It is to be noted that the father of the deceased boy and girl had died two years ago. The reason for consuming poison by the three is still unclear. Police probe is underway.
