Commissionerate police seizes Ganja from shops in Bhubaneswar’s Patia

Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police’s special crime unit along with the Infocity police raided several locations in Patia this morning.The raids were conducted to nab sale of intoxicants in the area. In a bid to make the city free of intoxicants and to crack down the drug peddlers, the police conducted a surprise raid in Patia on Wednesday. Launching a zero tolerance for the use of illegal drugs and drug mafias, the police raided over 10 betel and tea shops. The police seized ganja and rolling papers during the raids. The police also detained the shopkeepers from whose possession the contraband goods were seized. Ganja wrappers worth Rs 120 to 140 per piece were also used. These are used as flavouring agents. The Additional Deputy Commissioner Police (ADCP) Anup Kanungo led the special squad to carry out a raid along with the Infocity police. The raid was carried out in Pathara gadia, Prashant Vihar and Magnet square.
