Gujarat: Acting on an intelligence input, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) and Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) undertook an operation and seized 300 kg narcotics worth Rs 1800 crore. The operation took place off the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) in the Arabian waters near Gujarat on April 12-13. Based on the intelligence input of ATS, the ICG ship spotted a boat at night across the IMBL. As the smugglers noticed the ICG ship, they dumped the 300 kg narcotics worth Rs 1800 crore and fled. The ICG officials rose to their feet and deployed a sea boat to recover the dumped consignment. On the other hand, another group of ICG officials chased the smugglers in a speed boat. The smugglers however escaped as they were close to the IMBL and the ICG ship was far behind. They crossed the international waters and the ICG was coerced to terminate the chase. The drugs were then transported to Porbandar and handed over the ATS for further investigation. This is the 13th joint collaboration between ICG and Gujarat ATS. The narcotics seized is suspected to be methamphetamine as per press release of the ICG.
