Woman murdered by boyfriend for denying abortion in Odisha’s Malkangiri

Malkangiri: In a rare and gruesome incident, a woman was allegedly killed by her boyfriend for denying abortion. The cruel boyfriend allegedly murdered the girl and dumped her body in the forest. The decomposed body of the girl was recovered from the forest ater 22 days of crime. The chilling incident took place in Malkangiri district of Odisha. The accused boyfriend has been identified as Umesh Nag of Pandum village under Sindhigarh police station limits in Chhattisgarh. The deceased girl has been identified as Mangala Dei of Martunda village in Malkangiri district. According to information, the accused, Umesh Nag, was in a love affair with the girl. Recently, after medical test at the Malkangiri Headquarter hospital, the girl was found to be pregnant. Later, the accused forced the girl to have an abortion. However, the girl did not agree to the abortion and insisted him on getting married. Accordingly, the accused allegedly killed his girlfriend by pelting stones near Guda village in Malkangiri district bordering Chhattisgarh and threw her body in the Rengabhand forest. Malkangiri police started investigating the incident after the skeleton of the woman was found in the Rengabhand forest about 22 days after the murder. Based on the missing report of the girl at the Sukuma Police Station of Chhattisgarh and the information of the Malkangiri district headquarters hospital, the Malkangiri police arrested the lover Umesh Nag from Sukuma Pondum village and produced him in the court. After the accused was arrested, the police have recreated the crime scene.
