New Delhi, 11/3: The Centre on Monday announced the implementation of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019, marking a significant development four years after the controversial law was passed. This move clears the path for granting citizenship to undocumented non-Muslims migrants from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan.
The rules were notified just days before the anticipated announcement of the Lok Sabha elections. With this decision, the Modi government will begin the process of granting Indian nationality to persecuted non-Muslim migrants, including Hindus, Sikhs.
