Odisha Vigilance has secured the conviction of Sibnarayan Pal, Former Junior Engineer (JE), RW Section, Badamba, Kataka district, in a disproportionate assets (DA) case.Pal, who retired as Assistant Engineer from R&B Division‑II, Bhubaneswar, was charge‑sheeted under Section 13(2) read with 13(1)(e) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 for possessing assets far beyond his known sources of income.The Special Judge, Vigilance, Dhenkanal sentenced him to two years rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 5,00,000. In default of payment, further imprisonment may be imposed.Following the conviction, Vigilance officials confirmed they will move the competent authority to stop Pal’s pension benefits in accordance with service rules.
