The flood situation in Assam worsened on Friday with two more deaths in Sivasagar, pushing the state’s toll this year to 80.According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), over 2.12 lakh people are affected across 437 villages in 21 revenue circles spanning eight districts.The districts under flood impact include Golaghat, Sivasagar, Biswanath, Charaideo, Kamrup Metropolitan, Jorhat, Dhemaji, and Nagaon. Floodwaters have submerged 17,198 hectares of crops, leaving vast stretches of agricultural land under water.Authorities have opened 21 relief camps to shelter displaced families, while district administrations are supplying food, drinking water, and essentials. Urban flooding persists in Kamrup Metropolitan, with Padumbari and Tetelia‑Boragaon Service Lane still waterlogged.ASDMA has issued a public advisory after the Dhansiri (South) River continued to rise at Numaligarh in Golaghat district, urging residents to stay away from riverbanks. Water levels in several rivers remain high, and officials are closely monitoring vulnerable areas.
