Two persons were killed in separate wild elephant attacks in Odisha’s Sundaragada district early Saturday, sparking fear among residents of Koida and Biramitrapur.In the first incident, Sambari Munda (60) was trampled to death near the Koida forest area when she and her family encountered a tusker while stepping out of their house late at night. Her daughter Balma Munda sustained injuries while trying to escape. Locals later drove the elephant away and rushed Sambari to Koida CHC, where doctors declared her dead.In another tragedy at Kusumtoli under Biramitrapur police limits, Ramchandra Gouda was killed by a wild elephant while out for a morning walk.Forest officials have urged residents to remain cautious, especially during early morning and late‑night hours, as elephant movement has intensified in the region.
