Bhubaneswar: Odisha is likely to get a new Lokayukta soon, with the process for appointing the anti-corruption ombudsman already underway, Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari said on Tuesday.Speaking to reporters, Pujari said the first meeting of the committee responsible for selecting the Lokayukta had already been held and that the process would now move forward.“The first meeting has already been held. The process has started and will conclude with the selection of the Lokayukta. The decision will be taken on the basis of a majority,” Pujari said.The selection of the Lokayukta is carried out in accordance with the prescribed legal provisions and involves the Chief Minister, the Speaker of the Odisha Legislative Assembly and the Leader of the Opposition.Pujari expressed hope that the state would have a new Lokayukta in the coming days.
