Tension erupted in Bhubaneswar’s Niladri Vihar during a major eviction drive in the area on Tuesday. The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) and Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) has launched a joint eviction drive in the Niladri Vihar and around 330 transit houses are set to be demolished on Tuesday.To ensure the smooth conduct of the eviction drive, three platoon police force has been deployed in the area.According to reports, some beneficiaries have continued to occupy the transit houses despite being allotted homes under the Budha Vihar Housing Project.Taking strict action, the BDA and BMC were forced to initiate the massive eviction drive.However, some residents protested against the drive, alleging that despite being eligible to get a house, they have not received a house under the housing project.The eviction drive is being conducted with the presence of the Chandrasekharpur police.
