A shotwhile ago, B.H Umashankar, Jr. Revenue Asst.(JRA), O/o Tahasildar, Patana, Dist. Kendujhar has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance while demanding and taking a bribe of Rs.6,000/-(six thousand) from an applicant for processing their file in a mutation case and to facilitate issuance of ROR in his name and his other coparceners. The applicant had applied online on 03.06.2026 for mutation of their land as per the rules of the Govt in the R&DM Department. When the applicant enquired about the status of the case, the accused JRA Sri Umashankar demanded bribe Rs.6,000/- to process the mutation file. Being aggrieved by the demanded bribe, the applicant (Complainant) alerted the vigilance authorities. Upon receiving the information, today, a team of Odisha Vigilance nabbed accused JRA Sri Umashankar while taking bribe Rs.6,000/- from the complt in the garage of the Tahasil office. The entire tainted bribe money Rs.6,000/- has been recovered from the possession of the accused JRA Sri Umashankar and seized. Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations connected to Sri Umashankar from DA angle.In this connection, Baleshwar Vigilance PS Case No.17/2026, U/s 7 PC(Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered. Investigation is in progress against the accused Sri Umashankar, JRA. Detailed report follows.
