Paralakhemundi, Aug 28(Tarini Prasad Panda): More than one lakh women in Gajapati district received the fifth instalment of financial assistance under the State Government’s ‘Subhadra’ scheme through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) on the auspicious occasion of Raksha Purnima.
A district-level programme to mark the disbursement was organised at the Rural Self Employment Training Institute here on Thursday. Additional District Magistrate Munindra Honanag, Chief Development Officer-cum-Executive Officer of Zilla Parishad Dayamaya Padhi, Sub-Collector Anup Panda, District Legal Services Authority Secretary Bimal Roul, Municipal Council Chairperson Nirmala Sethi, K. Sunita and Additional Tahasildar, Paralakhemundi, among others, attended the programme.
Addressing the beneficiaries, the guests highlighted the objectives and benefits of the Subhadra scheme and urged the women to make judicious use of the financial assistance to strengthen their economic position. They also called upon the beneficiaries to create awareness among other women about the scheme.
The speakers stressed that initiatives such as Subhadra would help women achieve greater self-reliance, dignity and economic and social empowerment, besides encouraging their active participation in various spheres.
The Women and Child Development Department organised various competitions on the occasion. Officials and staff from different district-level departments, members of Odisha Livelihoods Mission and Mission Shakti, Self-Help Groups and a large number of ‘Subhadra sisters’ attended the programme.
The district-level event concluded with the live telecast of the state-level Subhadra programme.
