The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority said the rise in the water level at the same site raised the risk of another flood in the area.At least 320 Indians remain missing, and around 400 others are stranded on the Chinese side following devastating flash floods along the Nepal-Tibet border, and India is ready to extend all possible help to Kathmandu in its rescue efforts, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said on Friday (August 28, 2026).MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said 96 Indian nationals who were stranded on the Chinese side have safely crossed over to Nepal by land route. Twenty-one Indians arrived in New Delhi this afternoon, a day after they reached Kathmandu from the flood-affected areas of Nepal, he said.A preliminary assessment suggested the collapse of a high-altitude glacier in Nepal was behind the mudslides and floods along the Nepal-China border, said China’s Foreign Ministry. Chinese authorities said 555 tourists had been evacuated from Gyirong county in Tibet. As of today, Chinese authorities had confirmed five deaths but added that more than 558 people were still missing.
