A shocking road accident occurred near the Baipariguda Tehsil office on Sunday morning when a car hit a 62-year-old woman and skidded off the roadside.The victim, identified as Bati Paligudia of Tapakaria Sahi, was on her way for morning ablutions when the vehicle (OD 07 AN 2112), carrying a family of five from Brahmapur en route to Gupteswar, struck her from behind. Following the collision, the car lost control and fell off the roadside.Local residents rushed to the spot, rescued the injured woman, and admitted her to Baipariguda Medical. After preliminary treatment, she was shifted to Jeypore District Hospital as her condition remained critical.Police have launched an investigation into the incident. Meanwhile, the accident-hit car was lifted from the rodside using a Pokline machine.
